WHAT HAPPENED?
The Brazilian wonderkid is considered to be the hottest of prospects and has completed a €35 million (£30m/$38m) switch to Santiago Bernabeu after celebrating his 18th birthday. A loan move has been ruled out for the youngster, with the plan being to give him plenty of game time in 2024-25.

WHAT COURTOIS SAID
Endrick is being eased into the Blancos fold by Carlo Ancelotti but has made little impact through early outings, including a 2-1 friendly defeat to Barca in the United States. Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois told reporters after that contest: “Endrick has a lot of strength, a lot of power. And maybe he needs to be a little calmer. I'm not saying he's nervous, but it's normal that you're playing with Madrid in big games and you get a little more nervous. But you can see in training that he scores a lot of goals and has a lot of strength.”

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Arda Guler, fresh from starring for Turkey at Euro 2024, is another exciting starlet on Real’s books. Courtois added on the 19-year-old playmaker, who is preparing for his second season in Spain: “He's a different Arda compared to last year. After his knee injury, he's worked hard in the gym and you can see that he's a different guy physically. He's good at attacking, he's good at passing. We have a lot of good players and they're going to fight for positions and that's what helps Madrid to be Madrid and win trophies.”
WHAT NEXT?
Alongside Endrick, Real have added World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe to their ranks this summer. He joins an attacking unit that also includes Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and England international superstar Jude Bellingham.
Australian batsman re-signs with club he captained in 2019, and several of his compatriots could follow suit with county deals of their own
Matt Roller23-Sep-2019Cameron Bancroft will return to Durham as the club’s overseas player for the 2020 season.Bancroft captained Durham in the County Championship and the Royal London Cup this year, which represented a controversial appointment in the wake of his involvement in Australia’s ball-tampering scandal. But director of cricket Marcus North repeatedly defended the decision, and Bancroft ended up leading the club’s averages in both first-class and List A cricket. He made 726 runs at an average of 45.37 in nine Championship matches, and a further 377 runs at an average of 94.25 in the Royal London Cup.Bancroft will be available for all three formats, though the club is yet to confirm whether or not he will continue as captain.”We are delighted to welcome Cameron back to Emirates Riverside for our 2020 season,” said North.”He has had a huge impact on the field with his leadership and undoubted quality through his performances. Cameron has also had an impact off the field as an ambassador for the club with a number of community projects.”It is expected that several other members of Australia’s Test squad will sign county deals for 2020. Peter Siddle is already on a two-year deal at Essex, while several clubs have enquired about the availability of Nathan Lyon.Australia are not scheduled to play a Test between February and November next year, and many of their internationals are expected to enter into the draft for The Hundred, which starts immediately after their white-ball series in England.
Crystal Palace are desperately in search of a long-term number nine this January.
The Eagles have struggled in the final third this season, with only the bottom two teams scoring fewer goals.
Eddie Nketiah is one name floating around concerning a move to Selhurst Park, but Roy Hodgson's message is clear: he wants a goal-scorer.
Crystal Palace's number nine target
According to a report earlier in the week from talkSPORT, Palace are interested in signing Che Adams this month, with the striker on their radar.
Southampton will accept a fee of around £6m for his services this winter, although the Eagles will face competition from Everton and Wolves for the player's signature.
The Scotland forward will be out of contract at the club in the summer, so the Saints will look to recoup some funds on their number ten or risk losing for absolutely nothing in a few months.

The stats that show Adams would improve Eze
Eberechi Eze is by far the most important contributor to the function of Palace's system, and he's proving that once again this term.
The 25-year-old has scored three times and assisted once in 12 Premier League starts this campaign, and he's averaging 2.1 key passes per game – behind only teammate Michael Olise (2.2).
Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson with EberechiEzeafter the match
Last season, Eze scored ten goals, and the introduction of a true number nine, like Adams, could allow him to reach those levels once again.
Under Russell Martin this season, Adams has fallen second fiddle to Adam Armstrong, who has netted 14 goals for the Saints in the Championship, but the Scotland international is having a quietly impressive season himself, scoring eight goals and providing two assists in just 12 starts.
The table below shows a handful of Adams’ statistics from this season and how he compares to his positional peers in the Championship.

Palace are in desperate need of a striker who can reliably score goals, as Odsonne Edouard and Jean-Phillipe Mateta have only scored eight between them in the Premier League this season. As you can see by his goals-per-game ratio and goals per shot, Adams would serve as a solution to that problem and provide that as a minimum.
With Eze’s creativity, the signing of Adams would give him a target to hit in the box or look for in deeper areas, in turn improving the Eagles' attacking patterns and the number ten’s output.
Football analyst Statman Dave has labelled Adams a “technical striker,” and based on his passing statistics, it is difficult to disagree. Eze was Palace’s biggest goal threat last campaign, and the ability to link up with Adams in and around the box with quick combinations would allow him to be much more direct, therefore increasing his number of chances to score.
In short, Adams is a bargain for £6m, and Palace would be extremely lucky to find someone of his quality for that little anywhere else. Not only would the Saints attacker fix their lack of goals, but he would also make those around him better, which makes this transfer a no-brainer.
India batsman asks to be considered for all formats of the game
ESPNcricinfo staff29-Aug-2019Nearly two months after announcing his retirement amid high drama, Ambati Rayudu has made a giant U-turn. According to the , the 33-year-old batsman has sent an email to the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) saying his decision to retire was an “emotional one” and that he was “willing to play in all formats of the game” again. On their part, the HCA want Rayudu to groom the next generation of Hyderabad batsmen, with chief selector Noel David going as far as to say that “he has at least five years of cricket” left in him.”I want to take this opportunity to thank Chennai Super Kings, VVS Laxman and Noel David, who have been very supportive during the tough time and are instrumental in making me realise that I have enough cricket left in me,” Rayudu wrote in an email to Prof Ratnakar Shetty, a member of the panel currently overseeing affairs at the HCA.”I am looking forward to a wonderful season ahead with a very talented Hyderabad team and help the team realise its full potential. I will be available from September 10 to join the Hyderabad team.”Rayudu sent out mixed signals last week when he stated his desire to play in the IPL. He is presently contracted to Chennai Super Kings.”It is great news for us. I still believe he still has five years of cricket and groom youngsters, which is more important for us. Last year without him, we struggled in Ranji Trophy,” David said. “Rayudu’s class and experience will prove to be very handy for Hyderabad and will surely have a major positive influence on the other players as he will be playing in all the formats.”Hopefully he carries on the good work and leads from the front and I am confident of Rayudu getting support from all quarters.”Rayudu announced his retirement after he wasn’t chosen as a replacement for the injured Shikhar Dhawan despite being named one of five stand-bys for the World Cup. He also courted controversy for a not-so-cryptic “3D” tweet aimed at chief selector MSK Prasad who had said that Vijay Shankar – the player picked ahead of Rayudu in the initial 15 – had three dimensions to his game, capable of contributing with bat, ball and in the field.Last year, Rayudu announced his retirement from first-class cricket to focus on his limited-overs career with the World Cup in mind. He played the last of his 97 first-class games in November 2017. Hyderabad finished seventh in Group B in the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy season.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has now given the ‘go-ahead’ for a potential summer signing with pre-summer talks even held, according to reports.
The Lowdown: Spurs eye summer overhaul…
As per reliable reports from The Times and The Telegraph recently, there may well be a summer of real change on the horizon at Hotspur Way.
Conte is apparently eyeing a plethora of major incomings with just as many Spurs players looking likely to make way, coming as the Italian and chairman Daniel Levy met for dinner three weeks ago to discuss strategy.
The Lilywhites head coach is apparently set for another summit with Levy and sporting director Fabio Paratici at the end of the 2021/2022 Premier League season with the top-four chasers now on the brink of Champions League qualification.
A point against Norwich City tomorrow will gift the north-Londoners a place in Europe’s most prestigious competition and a potentially crucial financial windfall ahead of the transfer window.
The Latest: Lenglet talks held…
According to Sport, sharing news on Tottenham’s possible summer activity, Paratici and co have held talks over signing Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet – making contact to find out the conditions of a transfer.
Conte’s side want the France international on a season-long loan with a possible option to sign him permanently, a deal which doesn’t really appeal to the Catalans who are now sounding out other options.
However, this isn’t going well, as La Liga clubs taking Lenglet is seen as ‘unfeasible’ and Chelsea haven’t taken their interest beyond that – making Spurs favourites to sign the centre-back as they’re now seen as the ‘most viable option’.
There is also a green light from Conte as he ‘would give the go-ahead’ to sign Barca’s man.
The Verdict: Make the move?
Barca’s options to offload Lenglet appear to be waning, potentially handing Spurs a strong hand in convincing them to agree to their loan plus option-to-buy deal.
However, despite being lauded as a ‘top professional’ by former Camp Nou boss Ronald Koeman, we believe there could be better options for Conte to strengthen his side.
The likes of Joško Gvardiol and Alessandro Bastoni, both of whom linked with a move, arguably stand out as more exciting targets over Lenglet who’s started just six league matches this season.
Indeed, before pursuing a move further, it may be best for Tottenham to weigh other more durable options.

Messi maintains dominance, Son makes immediate impact
While Messi continues to cement his status as the league's most marketable star since joining Inter Miami in 2023, Son finishing second overall proves his impact as he's played just 10 league games since joining MLS in August.
Son's merchandise sales were unprecedented – he became the top-selling athlete across the Fanatics Network for jersey sales within just 72 hours of his signing announcement.

Global reach
The diversity of nationalities represented – including players from Argentina, South Korea, Mexico, Uruguay, Paraguay, the United States, and Germany – highlighted MLS's global reach.
Trey Yesavage made history during the Blue Jays’ win in Game 5 of the World Series against the Dodgers. The rookie, who only made his first MLB start in September and started the year at Single-A, dominated on the road in Los Angeles, striking out 12 batters across a seven-inning outing.
No one was more fired up for the 22-year-old than veteran starting pitcher Max Scherzer. After a big double play got Toronto out of the seventh inning, Scherzer could be seen on the bench going ballistic. The 41-year-old was smacking the railing inside the dugout and proceeded to throw his sunflower seeds in excitement.
Have a look:
Scherzer could then be seen speaking to Yesavage in the dugout, clearly still amped by his impressive performance.
When you have a three-time Cy Young winner and two-time World Series champion acting like that in the dugout, you know you’re putting on a show. And that’s exactly what Yesavage did on the mound Wednesday night.
The rookie had all three of his signature pitches working to perfection. His combination of his fastball, slider and splitter, mixed with his unique release point, was a puzzle the Dodgers’ lineup was simply unable to solve.
Scherzer was loving every minute of it from his viewing point in the dugout, and he couldn’t contain his excitement after the inning-ending double play.

Toney leaves Brentford for Al-Ahli
Striker greeted by Saudi side's fans
Nods awkwardly to cringe-worthy chant
WHAT HAPPENED?
Toney swapped Brentford for Al-Ahli late last month and has since been getting to grips with his new surroundings in Saudi Arabia. Now, a clip of the England international has surfaced, where the 28-year-old rather unenthusiastically reacts to supporters chanting his name during his first visit to an Al-Ahli club shop.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Toney was reportedly once valued at £100m by Brentford and was coveted by the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, and Chelsea. But as his form dropped off and his contract ticked down, the interest in the 28-year-old waned, before the ex-Peterborough United star made the switch to the Middle East. In a time that is likely to be his peak years of football, he has traded it in for a lucrative two-year deal in a division of a much lower quality.

Toney could make his Al-Ahli debut when they take on Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr on September 13 in the Saudi Pro League. His new team currently sit eighth in the table following a win and a loss so far this season.
Chelsea’s recent 4-3 win over Manchester United basically summed up their campaign in a nutshell, winning games they shouldn’t be winning while suffering defeats in matches they should be taking all three points from.
The result leaves the club occupying tenth position in the Premier League table, just five points off sixth spot.
If Mauricio Pochettino can inspire his side to a solid finish over their remaining nine matches, they could perhaps steal a European place.
Chelsea star Cole Palmer
Cole Palmer has been in sensational form this season, having joined from Manchester City last summer, scoring 19 goals and registering 12 assists, proving to be arguably Pochettino’s finest player throughout the campaign.
Another standout has been Conor Gallagher. The Englishman has been outstanding at times this season and this sort of form has not gone unnoticed…
Conor Gallagher is attracting interest
Gallagher has a contract until 2025 at Chelsea, yet it looks as though an extension has not been discussed as yet for the midfielder.
Tottenham Hotspur are a club who have shown plenty of interest in the 24-year-old over the previous 12 months, and they could be set to make a move this summer if no new deal is agreed by then.

According to 90min, the Stamford Bridge side will place a £50m price tag on Gallagher’s head this summer, which is lower than the £60m that they were previously seeking.
Securing this type of fee for the player will allow the club to comply with financial fair play regulations as Pochettino looks to balance his books ahead of next season. The Argentinean has a tough decision to make, however, especially considering how influential Gallagher has become.
Conor Gallagher’s statistics for Chelsea this season
Gallagher returned from his loan spell at Crystal Palace looking to make inroads into securing a regular place in the starting XI last season. He featured 45 times in all competitions for the club and has used this as a platform for further success on a personal level this term.
So far during the 2023/24 campaign, the midfielder has played 40 matches, scoring five goals and registering seven assists in all competitions.
Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher celebrates.
Among his teammates in the Premier League, Gallagher ranks second with regards to overall Sofascore rating (7.31), along with ranking second for big chances created (eight), key passes per game (1.5) and for tackles per game (2.5), showcasing his abilities across both attacking and defensive metrics this season.
When compared to his positional peers in the top five European leagues, Gallagher ranks in the top 1% for pass success rate per 90 (87.8%) and the top 2% for both tackles (2.5) and interceptions (1.3) per 90 across the previous 365 days.
These statistics clearly show how important Gallagher is to this Chelsea team. That being said, receiving a transfer fee of around £50m would give Pochettino a licence to manoeuvre in the transfer window, while he perhaps already has an ideal replacement just waiting to be unleashed in the first-team squad next season – Andrey Santos.
How much Chelsea paid for Andrey Santos
During the January 2023 transfer window – where Chelsea spent £320m – the Blues secured the signature of Brazilian youngster Santos from Vasco da Gama, costing the club around £18m, and he was certainly earmarked as a player who could have a solid future.
"He's a strong, box-to-box midfielder – I don't think Vasco would have been promoted without him,” said South American football expert Tim Vickery upon his arrival at Stamford Bridge.
Andrey Santos Chelsea
"But it's a big step up. He's not a player who will be ready for Premier League football yet. He's only 18 – this is one for the future.”
Santos failed to make an appearance for the Chelsea first team during the second half of last season and joined Nottingham Forest on a loan deal at the start of 2023/24. The 19-year-old played just twice for the club before moving abroad on another temporary deal, sealing a move to French side Strasbourg.
Andrey Santos’ statistics at Strasbourg
Finding his feet at Forest proved to be more difficult than first anticipated, yet the teenager is beginning to flourish in France, already making four appearances since joining a couple of months ago.
Analyst Ben Mattinson praised the move to send him out on a temporary move, saying: “This loan will do him the world of good in building confidence after not being used at Forest.
“This type of signing is exactly the one they should be doing. [£]10m on a prospect who could become [£]60m. Value for money.”
Across his four Ligue 1 games, Santos has averaged a pass success rate of 87%, won 5.5 total duels per game, made two tackles per game along with losing possession just 5.5 times on average per match, showcasing his many talents in the French top flight.
He is clearly still developing, but playing for a club like Strasbourg where there isn’t as much pressure as trying to keep Forest in the Premier League, could be highly beneficial for the youngster.
Football talent scout Jacek Kulig praised him after Santos shone for Brazil U20s last year, lauding the player as a “one-man war machine in midfield” and, given the chance, he could showcase these abilities at Chelsea in the foreseeable future.
Gallagher’s future is still uncertain heading into the summer transfer window and if he continues this excellent form, there will be interest from more clubs than just Spurs, that’s for sure.
Instead of splashing the cash on a replacement in the transfer market, Pochettino should be taking a closer look at Santos and perhaps giving him a chance to show exactly what he could do.

The 19-year-old is a special talent indeed, but it isn’t the first time that Chelsea have signed a player with all the promise in the world, only for them to struggle and move on after a few underwhelming years.
Santos is seemingly the ideal Gallagher replacement but Pochettino will have to handle his progress with care.
David Moyes may not have been everyone’s cup of tea at West Ham United, but no one can deny how much he transformed them during his spell, notably steering the club to European glory in 2023.
With Julen Lopetegui under some pressure, was moving Moyes on perhaps a tad hasty? Of course, feelings are mixed regarding the former manager, especially with some of his final few signings in charge.
David Moyes' wayward 2023 summer window
James Ward-Prowse cost the club £30m last summer from Southampton but failed to live up to this fee at the London Stadium and was loaned to Nottingham Forest ahead of the current campaign.

Kalvin Phillips joined in January 2024 on a loan deal from Manchester City, with the Irons paying a loan fee and covering his wages during this temporary spell. The Englishman made just ten appearances for the club in what was a disastrous signing by Moyes.
One of his worst pieces of transfer business, especially in terms of value for money, was spending £15m to sign Danny Ings from Aston Villa.
Danny Ings’ West Ham statistics
Ings was fairly critical of his time at Villa Park, dubbing his maiden season in the Midlands as “underwhelming” after scoring just seven goals in 30 appearances for the club.
Although Moyes needed some more attacking reinforcements when he signed Ings nearly two years ago, the English striker was hardly going to be prolific under him.

Indeed, during his first six months, the former Liverpool centre-forward managed to score just two Premier League goals across 17 matches.
The 2023/24 campaign – his first full season at West Ham – was somehow even worse. Ings started only three times in the top flight, scoring a solitary goal against Burnley, a team who would be relegated.
It is clear that his time in London has been dismal. Ings was arguably one of Moyes’ worst-ever signings for the Irons, especially over his final 18 months in charge.
The Englishman’s market value has, unsurprisingly, dropped drastically since he moved to the club in January 2023.
Danny Ings market value at West Ham
Paying £15m for a striker who was clearly past their best was a terrible error of judgement by Moyes and the club are now paying for this move.
Indeed, according to Football Transfers, Ings is currently worth just €1.8m (£1.5m), which represents a major dip from the fee the club shelled out for him a little over 18 months ago.
His contract expires at the end of the season, but will West Ham be able to sell him in January? Especially considering how low his value is at this moment in time.
If not, he will likely be released next summer, with the club wasting money on paying his wages even though he is failing to contribute.

The 33-year-old has scored just once this term from six appearances, starting only one of those games as Lopetegui prefers the likes of Michail Antonio to be unleashed in the starting XI.
There is no doubt Ings has been one of the worst signings the club has made recently, costing them a fortune in the process.
